$10 for Josh James?
Pretty simple. The trade really comes down to what role you think Josh James has. If James becomes a starter, this is a fine “buy low” for Chaos. If he stays a reliever (and currently he’s an awful one), then this is a bad trade for Chaos. Do you feel lucky? The Astros rotation looks pretty stacked with Forrest Whitley in the wings. Joe Musgrove comes to mind of a starter then reliever who became a good starter for another team, maybe thats James fate. First and foremost, he’s going to need to pitch better, because at the current rate he’s headed back to AAA shortly. In all honesty if he went back to AAA, that would be good for Chaos here, because he could send him down and use his active spots on good players and potential major league keepers.
As someone who held guys like Gsellsman and Peacock last year, I know the burden of having relievers on your team when you don’t want that player to be a reliever. At least those guys did well in relief when I owned them.
Bailey clearly FIGURED IT OUT, and traded away James for a nice $10 amount that will come in handy next auction. If James was a starter and in auction at the beginning of the season, he would have went for over $30 pretty easily, so this is certainly a buy low. Will it pay off?
